Every member has the capability to DJ. (Even before our full room podium features are released)

The DJ

Set up your playlist via iTunes, Windows Media Player or the iCU2 X Playlists, and set your microphone to sound card. *Mac users see our DJ guide for setting up your Mac sound card.
In the chat rooms set your visibility to Online and Visible to All Users (or the selection of users you’d like to share your DJing with)

Play away! All users that view your cam will be able to choose to listen to your broadcast while taking part in chat. You can choose to only broadcast audio, by either pausing your cam or stopping your cam with your microphone active.

The Listeners

Whenever you view another member’s cam you also have access to listen to their audio if they are broadcasting. Turn on and off audio at any time by hovering over the DJ’s video and slide the volume control up or down or click the megaphone icon to mute completely.

Video View Sizes

If you’ve tried the iCU2 X chat rooms, you’ve seen already that the VODs (videos on demand) are displayed in the top bar area of the interface. Members can load the top bar with up to 20 VODs at once. This area scrolls right and left to view all the VODs you have active- unless you have quite a large screen that allows 20 wide!

Did you know there are other sizes you can view your VODs?
Stretching the top bar downward from the three dots at the center will enlarge your video bar. As this slides it may make more room available by dropping your user list to below the bar.

Still not large enough? Ok.
Hover over a VOD so that you can see the user’s name and volume controls and you’ll also find Undocking and Fullscreen icon options in the lower right hand corner of their VOD.

Lock On and Whisper

Did you know you can lock onto the person you are whispering to, for less accidental public posting?

To whisper to another User

1. Hover on their name in the user list or in chat and select Whisper Message

2. Select their name from the pulldown menu in the text input area of the chat and instead of Send, click Whisper

Once you’ve begun whispering to someone, you may find yourself continuing conversations that prefer whisper mode. At any time you can Lock In on the user you are whispering to, so that you do not have to select them each time.

Locking On

The pulldown list of users in the text box has small circle icons, when clicked thy are replaced by a lock icon and the user’s name replaces “All”. Click again on the lock to unlock whisper and reutrn to All chatting.

The Tabs, Eyes and Notification Counts

The chat area tabs are your main controls. Finding friends online, controlling your block list, switching to games, arranging a playlist, adjusting your cam settings or fonts, and room hopping are all controlled within your tabs.

Notification Counts

When you are in a room the system assumes you are noticing the activity within that room. If you visit multiple rooms, the rooms that you are not currently viewing will notify you of their activity by posting a count of posts in that room on its tab.

In this example there have been 4 actions in the room since I stepped away from it. These actions include text posts, photos, whispers to you and system messages. (Currently action alerts like “admin has left the room” are counted in these notifications. Plans are to omit those actions from count)

Private Chats

When you enter a private chat the user you are chatting with’s avatar will become the tab’s icon. When you chat with more than one person it will be a standardized icon. Since inviting a user to private chat makes your cam available to them, the default is to make their cam (if on) available to you as well. In this case an eye will show on your private chat tab to notify you that the person in your chat is being broadcast your cam.

When multiple users are in your private chat, all invited guests will need to request permission of each other to view each other’s cams. The host is always accessible to their guests. Pauses and cam off DO function as usual within a private chat.

Users in a private chat can each see who is viewing them in their Users List on the right.

The Tab Icons

A lock on your tab icon means the room is protected by password. Your private chat room will not show in the Room List, while a room created with a password will show in the Room List with a lock icon.
